About Our Practice

Dr. Cochrane’s office is proud to be a private, independently owned business. Recently, many local Reno and Sparks optometric practices have been bought by large conglomerates, which can change the whole philosophy and spirit of those practices.

But here at Cochrane Family Eyecare, we have a different philosophy. We believe in providing the best experience to each and every one of our patients by deeply listening to their needs and concerns, providing access to the latest cutting-edge equipment and procedures, offering a wide variety of frames, lenses, and contacts for every style and price point, and never making our patients feel pressured, manipulated, or unappreciated. Although we are growing to better serve our community, our philosophy remains unchanged.

Our doctors and staff are fully committed to providing the best experience to each and every one of our patients.

Update: We are growing again!

Please help us welcome Dr. Julie Minnix, the newest optometrist to join us here at Cochrane Family Eyecare!

Dr. Minnix has been an optometrist in Reno, NV since 2016, and is excited to continue our legacy of patient-centric care.

Important COVID-19 Notice:

(updated February 24, 2022)

Dr Cochrane and the staff at Cochrane Family Eyecare are happy to announce that we are fully open for all services!

Currently, you can schedule your appointment online by clicking here, or you can call the office at 775-787-3939.

New Policies and Procedures For Patients:

Prior to coming for your appointment, please print and complete all patient paperwork (click here for Patient Paperwork).

Nevada has dropped the mandates for mask use inside most places. We are no longer requiring patients to wear masks while inside our office. Dr. Cochrane and staff will use a mask while they are working with you if it would make you more comfortable. Please notify the front desk receptionist of your wishes when you come in.

If you have an elevated temperature or if you know that you are sick or showing Covid-19 symptoms, please reschedule your appointment.

When you are trying on eyeglass frames, please put all frames that you touch into a provided black tray. Our staff will then disinfect them prior to returning them to the frame boards.

Cleaning Procedures

We are cleaning and disinfecting office surfaces multiple times a day and all equipment is disinfected between each and every patient. We have added glass barriers around the reception and check-out areas.
